I missed hiking on New Year’s Day last year and wanted to make sure I got out this year, so I went for a nice 3-mile hike in People’s State Forest. I walked along parts of the snowmobile trails as well as hiking trails making a loop hike. I was also able to check out the boardwalk in Beaver Swamp. The new boardwalk is nice and offers beautiful views of the swamp and surrounding hills.
I met a few other hikers on the trail as it was a nice sunny morning to be out. After seeing the boardwalk, I moved on and completed my loop. It was nice to be out on the first day of the year.
